If I did not have my track saw, I would purchase an inexpensive circular saw that could stay attached to the ripcut. *I have also upgraded to a Festool Track Saw so I donated my circular saw and RipCut to the local Junior High School woodshop class so I no longer use this tool but while I had it, I found it to be useful. You can contact Kreg Tools to find out if your saw is compatible - or buy it and try it and keep your receipt! It went onto my Skil brand saw without a hitch. SO, be warned, it may not fit on your circular saw. The product description says “It fits on MOST circular saws…”. *Edited 12/2/14 I have had quite a few clients and readers let me know that the Kreg RipCut did not fit onto their circular saw. ![]() You know bad instruction manuals are one of my biggest pet peeves.) ![]() The Rip-Cut gives me accurate cuts, it takes about 15 seconds to adjust for a new cut width, and I don’t have to measure and mark and clamp anything to my wood so the whole process of ripping wood is much faster than with any other method (in my shop).īonus: It’s really easy to use! It’s not perfect, but it’s a pretty good option for ripping down large sheet goods and making repeated cuts. I was skeptical about this one being any better but it turns out - this one is markedly better. I’ve tried other circular saw cutting guides for ripping sheet goods before with disappointing results. If you don’t have a table saw, you could use this with a cross-cut guide to make shelves and simple cabinets. I have to learn to “follow through” with the cut. As you get to the end of a cut, the guide stops supporting the cut before the blade is all the way through. The only complaint I have- I wish the cutting guide was a bit longer. It allows me to quickly cut down plywood to a workable size. I am quite happy with my purchase of the Rip-Cut. Kreg does sell a tool for crosscuts, but I do not have it. For shorter cuts it doesn’t work well, as the guide edge is not long enough. The guide is a little thicker than 1/2 inch. I have the plywood slightly over hanging the table so it doesn’t interfere with the edge guide. I hold and push the saw with my right hand, while pushing the guided against the edge with my left. Start the saw and cut keeping the edge guide firmly against the edge. Place the edge guide against the panel you wish to cut. Don’t forget about the 1/8th inch the saw blade kerf takes up too. If it is two inches from the blade to the edge of the saws shoe, and you want to cut a 24″ strip, the straight edge has to be clamped down at 26 inches. Add this to the dimension that has to be cut. It has to be determined how far the blade is from the edge of the “shoe” that the straight edge will rub against. It works OK, but it takes awhile to set up for each cut. You can use a straight edge (a straight board will work) to guide the saw while ripping. The table supports the plywood while using a cutting guide. Using my plywood cutting table with a circular saw worked well. The Rip Cut looked like it would solve my problem. I was glad to see a you tube video where the Kreg KMA2675 Kreg Rip-Cut I needed a safe way to rip them down to size. They are too heavy and big for my table saw, as it may be tipped over. ![]() Over the years I have had trouble with handling full sheets of plywood. ![]()
